I really don't understand what is happening in my country. Iran has been waging a warm war against us for 47 years while threatening the future of the planet with their nuclear weapons development program. We finally have a president that takes decisive, pro-active action to stop it and he gets piled on, even though most of his critics agree that Iran can never go nuclear, simply because it's causing a temporary increase in the price of fuel. Whatever happened to JFK's creed for America?: "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of liberty." It's the same with Rev. MLK's hope for a colorblind America. Both men may have been killed by an assassin's bullet, but it took the modern progressive/DNC/anti-Trump movements to bury them under 1,000 feet of stupid bigotry.

Cassidy lost his primary and in an idiotic, knee-jerk reaction against Trump and a nuclear-free Iran, he switches his vote on the Jackassery's War Powers Resolution. If this passes, it guarantees the survival of the terrorist islamist regime in Tehran, thoroughly fucks over the Persian people, almost assures that the mullahs will become a nuclear power, risks a high-chance nuclear exchange with Israel & America, and dishonors the sacrifices of the pro-freedom Persians and the U.S. military. It's Biden's Bagram BugOut all over again, but with far more severe consequences.

I won't get into the rapid rise of anti-semitism and pro-Hamas/Hezbullah movements here. Thoroughly disgusted with those villains. Batya does an excellent job exposing them and with far greater grace than I would ever offer.

Thanks for the reminder of that very ecxcellent JFK speech! Where did patriotism and guts to do the hard work go? My answer is that is was lost in the decline of public education.

Yes..Batya does an elegant job of exposing the anti-Semities isn a clear, backed up with facts, no baloney way. Keep it up Batya.

The degradation of students by radical educators is playing a huge role, but the influence of the know-nothings of Hollyweird and social media psychopaths are also playing a large role. That's evident in the 75-page manifesto of the two teenaged eco-fascists that just murdered 3 Muslims in San Diego.

I agree with every word of this post.

Pathetic that you’d rather live to see the day your own children (or grandchildren) come home in body bags from Iran than to have them inherit a free & independent country. A country that your generation pathetically sold off to foreigners.

None's avatar

Symmachus, you have a very poor understanding of world affairs and real threats to our children and grandchildren. Eliminating a suicidal jihadist regime will help ensure they survive.

Also, in the event of a nuclear holocaust, there’s nobody left to put the bodies in body bags. So there’s that.

Take my word for it. The Pope isn’t going to save you.

Jeff Keener's avatar

Very unlikely for it come to that based on the current trajectory. Almost certain that not finishing the job (your preference) would lead to millions of incinerated bodies and even more injured with horrible burns and cancers.

Otherwise, your reply is incoherent and immature, thus boring.

Mark D.'s avatar

“Ok boomer” is what a caricature of a moron would write after being (correctly) labeled immature and boring. Thanks for the chuckle.

Symmachus's avatar

But is it wrong?

Symmachus's avatar

If you want to fight Iran, go enlist then.

Jeff Keener's avatar

Been there, done that. Pathetic response, BTW.

Good riddance to a disgusting anti-Semite, evidenced once again by his concession speech last night.

That concession speech was reprehensible and completely crude. ...showing how LOW anti-Semites go.

Massie had the audacity to put out his Trump endorsement from the previous election cycle on social media the day before this election. Pu-leez. He did nothing to further the conservative agenda via his vote to codify the changes Trump is making. He did nothing to improve this country, but rather, he put up road blocks to what the American people voted for by electing Trump and republican majorities in both the House and Senate. Well, Thomas, it sucks to suck. Enjoy your next job as a commentator on some left-wing media outlet. I saw his Tel Aviv comment. What disgusting trash from someone who wants to blame “the Jews” for his own personal failure.

Elizabeth Rome's avatar

Yes--Massie did it to himself. Funy (not really "funny") how so many liberals do not accept any responsibility for what they say and do.

Former Democrat and, by extension, current actual LIBERAL here and I support this. I keep hearing the left bloviate about MAGA and how racist they are, but the Democrats are truly the party of antisemitism. Islam is the greatest evil facing the West and it needs to be stopped. This lapsed Catholic stands, firmly and happily, with Israel. I have no idea which antisemitic slur that makes me ("decent human", perhaps?, but I'm here for it, lol.

Jeff Keener's avatar

MAGA is roughly equivalent to what we used to describe ourselves as "JFK Democrats".

Meanwhile the candidate expected to win the nomination for the TX-35 House race, Maureen Galindo, is proposing an internment camp for Zionists where they will be castrated. Fortunately this race is rated Likely Republican but one would think all the national Democrats concerned about the "threats to our democracy" would have weighed in. They haven't.

Elizabeth Rome's avatar

Of course the national Democrats did not weigh on on such vile words. Because the Democrat party of today is a Marxist-Sociailst entity......all song and dance--no substance or action.

Ordered your book on Audible today. I am appalled by the rising anti-semitism which is no longer hidden below the surface, but promoted loudly. We must fight back.

Great piece, Batya. I agree Megyn Kelly should have been left out of this list: "a small cadre of podcasters who had traditionally been associated with the Right started to make increasingly anti-Israel and even antisemitic comments."

She is obviously not antisemitic, but some of her comments do echo Carlson. I know you are friends and friendly, and do hope that she cools off once this war is over. But she feels that Trump is doing Bibi's bidding. Having followed her closely until she strayed, I think her initial banal comments were met with a strong rebuke which was very off-putting to her. Nevertheless, I was broken-hearted and stopped listening.

Anti-semites lose Republican primaries but win Democrat primaries.

Great to see this outcome, but I am very concerned over the generational divides. Older voters rejected Massie, but younger voters voted for him, and have been sucked into this "Jews control everything" narrative. Hopefully they grow out of it, and for those of us who are older, we need to remind them of rot that comes from falling into these rabbit holes.

It's just another curse that seems to have befallen Gen Z and younger millennials and results in profound unhappiness in the younger generations.

In this excellent podcast, Prof. Shaul Kelner at Vanderbilt argues that anti-Zionism on the left, unlike antisemitism on the right as it currently exists here in the US at any rate, is an organized political movement, with the accents on "organized" and "political." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=936IQAsXnGA

HP's avatar

Not sure I agree with "easily and eagerly", but I would agree that the base on the right is less antisemitic than the left. Its a low bar but at least its cleared. In general, I would say the right today has antisemites, but the left is becoming institutionally antisemitic. Also, note that this applies not only to the US, but is more and more true around the world. That's why I used right and left instead of R and D.

And yet, too many Jews will keep voting Democrat.

The American Right wing has decades of experience marginalizing the kooks. Nice to see that it still works, even with a sudden onslaught of them. And no, Tucker...nobody is cancelling you. We just don't want to hear it anymore.

Everyone has their "one issue." Massie was charming to some extent where he was the "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" guy, but he totally failed on the big picture part of "these votes have consequences." His lack of seeing the value of the whole team rowing in the same direction was a BIG problem. The place for him to object was in the Republican caucus, not as a virtuous maverick marching to the beat of his own drummer.

Symmachus's avatar

Except only boomers voted against Massie, en masse. Literally every other age group voted for him.

America’s divorce from Israel is inevitable. It’s just not going to be happening overnight.

That’s a real stretch
