The party needs to look at what DeSantis has been doing in Florida that is literally putting money back into tax payers' pockets. He passed regulations that significantly lowered auto insurance costs. This wasn't a handout, it was regulatory change that allowed insurers to not only lower rates but retroactively credit their customers (I personally received a significant credit and a lower rate from my car insurer). He also saw that local governments had seen an explosion in tax revenue since 2019 so he's putting a likely-to-pass change on the November ballot to the homestead exemption which will directly benefit the working class homeowners (I personally will save $1200 a year since my property tax will be eliminated). These are regulatory changes that increase affordability without increasing taxes on anyone.

I understand why Trump decided to take action on Iran, but he ultimately made a huge mistake in underestimating the triggers Iran could pull to cause pain on the home front in the form in inflation and increased fuel prices. And I agree that it's going to cost Republicans in November because, as always, "it's the economy stupid". It's the reason Trump was elected after the Democrats ignored this basic fact through Biden's reign. Yes, there were other cultural reasons, but ultimately, the inflation caused by the Democrats was what doomed them, and it is what will doom the Republicans.

“People are so broke.” I am skeptical. Are they broke or are they hurt by Dems propagandizing? Are they broke or think they are broke?

Yes, food and gas are expensive, but this is not as. bad as during the huge increases when inflation was rising rapidly. The democrats only have one strategy…Tell everyone that they are broke and they will feel broke.

No they’re broke for real. I am fine - retired and benefitting from the stock market. But I hear from friends on both sides and neighbors about how they’re struggling. True inflation leveled off or is only up slightly from the Biden years but grocery prices are still outrageous. Now with gas so high too, average people are hurting.

Remember Slick Willie ran in ‘92 on “the worst economy in the last 50yrs”; it was total BS but the media parroted it & it became widespread belief.

Thune and the in decline RINOS don’t care about legislation or Trump voters. Thune I think wouldn’t mind losing the House and keep the Senate creating gridlock and divided government. The RINO wet dream. They want to run out the clock on Trump and resuscitate the

SWAMP.

Thank you Batya. You’re 100% spot on. Sadly (to me), it seems the Republican Party is hell bent on driving people to the Democrat party. Some policies feel tone deaf while others feel downright cruel.

Yeah but he decided to get involved in Iran. Stupid. Get out and let them “work it out”. Iran would never get a nuke because Israel and their nukes won’t allow it IMO. I still support Trump but he needs to STFU about close to a deal. The BS is starting to come over the top of my boots.

The problem is also that the Democrats will come up with all of the WRONG solutions to this very real problem.

Definitely limit energy exports. Do something about CA insanity. I am traveling around West now. Once you get outside the blast radios of CA policy diesel is about 75 cents cheaper. Except WA which has copied CA. Suggest seizing the closed refineries and running them as if they were in America. Banning energy exports should have a positive effect on fertilizer prices and availability which will help farmers. Don't ban foreclosures as a lot of the debt is equipment rather than land. If lenders won't do this, production suffers. Instead set up a refinance program. There is probably still something on the books from the New Deal. Don't know what to do about leftist judges and Senate RINOs. Maybe arrest a bunch for facilitating illegal immigration and then ignore orders to release them.

We’re working on something too. Don’t worry

Batya, are you expecting the Stupid Party to act wisely all of a sudden?

For me, it's this simple: Until someone makes an active effort to bring prices down, I'm voting for the challenger. Period.

In fact, the bar is so damn low now, I may even vote for whomever ACKNOWLEDGES that prices and COL are high. It's ridiculous that this is my line.

oh you mean America First? Agree!

Batya you are exactly spot on. Republicans need to hold fewer hearings and write legislation. Government's greatest act of affordability is to STOP subsidizing things that result in costs exploding. i.e. Tuition, health care, Section 8, minimum wage and cut corporate taxes that are passed directly to consumers. Wake up and smell the economics.

When a Democrat says “lowering costs” he means “force taxpayers to subsidize costs” or “force others to provide services at lower cost”. He never, ever means “get government out of the way so that services can actually be provided more cheaply.” The Democrat attitude to the economy parallels that of Leonid Brezhnev to Eastern Europe - the governments galloping, metastasizing growth may sometimes briefly have to slow but they will fight to the death to prevent any shrinkage. Big government is their bread and butter.

Well said! Another "Inflation reduction act"

PSE&G in NJ says they’re going to cut rates by 5% in October. Sounds like every Democrat will take credit for that come the midterms.

The Dems will do the only thing they know how to do and that’s demanding price controls.

The reality is that all presidents/ Congress kick the painful can down the road. We expect our government to function as our “Savior” to make our lives easier. Americans don’t have the resilience to weather the storm often needed to repair some significant foreign & domestic issues.
