Absolutely correct this is treason. Supporting a regime that has literally killed thousands of Americans over the decades. If we actually had a functioning democratic party he would be ostracized. But the sad thing is that so many of them think just like him. If he and those who voted for these democrats hate the US so much they need to go live under the Mullahs in Iran.

And these Mullah lovers have a nerve to say those of us who support Israel are unAmerican. A pox on them.

50,000 you Iranian troll. You’re not even an intelligent troll. I suspect you’re just jerking off in mommy’s basement because even the AI girlfriends reject you.

At least 750,000 Iranian protestors

Pretty sure "he's" a bot vs troll. Reported him.

Murphy ( and others) are in essence proxies of the Iranian regime and IRGC

Not a new thing. I am so old I can remember Country Joe and the Fish. And the consensus after 9-11 that lasted about 2 weeks. Took about the same amount of time for Democrats to start talking about a quagmire in Iraq. Iraq actually did turn into a quagmire because of Bush's predilection for nation building which only encouraged the detractors and has a hangover today. Lesson is don't fight forever wars. I see no indication that Trump intends to do so. This is more in the nature of a punitive raid combined now with a guerre de course. I don't know that we will get regime change out of this. As Trump says, the Iranians need to do that themselves. The Israeli tactic of Dial-A-Airstrike has promise though.

An underlying element of this phenomenon is the infiltration of the Democrat Party by the CCP. Let's recall Feinstein's "driver", Swalwell's Christine Fang affair, Cuomo and Hochul's state of New York infiltration, and even going back to Bill Clinton's insane Loral Missile Deal. One would assume actors like Murphy are voicing support for -- not Iran -- but the CCP's interests.

David Shimm's avatar

That would be preferable, but I think that it is true sympathy.

Batya, it’s fine to call out Democrat hypocrisy and TDS but Murphy’s post was clearly sarcasm. As if to say ‘look what Trump’s strategy has wrought’.

Now, I wish we could have some semblance of joint strategy on the war but we’re in an adversarial political moment right now. It seems to me that we need to return to first principles and a sorting is happening where the power-hungry statists are coalescing around the Democrats and the liberty-loving originalists are coalescing around the Republicans. We’ll see how it plays out. But Murphy is certainly free to voice sarcastic displeasure at where things stand in this Middle East conflict.

Batya Ungar-Sargon's avatar

I see he said he was being sarcastic, but how does that make it better? Do you think the Iranians, who think they are winning because the Democrats keep saying so, knew it was sarcasm? He shared a lie that denigrated our navy out of pure TDS. I don’t think that’s significantly different than cheering for Iran.

Charlie Freedman's avatar

It completely nullifies everything you wrote if you accept he was sarcastic lol WHAT DO YOU MEAN?

Ray Brown's avatar

I get what you're saying, and I generally agree with the idea that Democrats have gone from criticizing Trump to outright rooting against American interest due to blind hatred. However, I think your framing of Murphy's comment is misleading. He can still be criticized without saying he's treasonous.

The left is generally crazy in Israel too. My leftist boyfriend declared to me last week, proudly "Iran won the war" which is also echoed by the Israeli press. We have BDS here which is even more pathetic but happily only a small group.

Skinny's avatar

Get a new boyfriend that guy is not for you!

Coriolis Effect's avatar

Harboring an over-the-top antipathy toward Donald Trump and a pervasive hostility toward the nation, Democrats/Leftists have shown themselves. Their wrongheadedness is ideological, clinically psychotic, craven, and post-American. Sensible people, at this point, must revile them and their antics loudly and often.

MICHAEL BELL's avatar

Murphy, much like his leftist cohorts, is using our democracy to change America fundamentally. It’s worse than TDS. We need a new term for this level of hatred for good over evil.

Jorge Finkielman's avatar

Than you Batya. The TDS is becoming way to obvious that it can’t be dissimulated anymore.

Madjack's avatar

The progressive left is anti-Western Civilization, anti-JudeoChristian history and ethics, anti-American. They are a leprous plague on our body politic. They must be opposed and destroyed.

Jeremy Loffredo's avatar

Murphy is being sarcastic here. I can’t believe you wrote an entire article on a verifiably false premise. Just look at his commentary and tweets post “ceasefire”

MJ's avatar

If, as you believe he was being “sarcastic”, what is the sarcasm for? Either he is happy they got through (they didn’t, it’s a lie) to make Trump look bad or he is implying our Navy is incompetent in running a blockade that Trump ordered. Either way, he’s done more to reveal much more about himself than anyone else.

Jeremy Loffredo's avatar

He’s criticizing Trump. He’s believing what you say is fake news and commenting that it’s Trump’s fault this bad thing happened.

MJ's avatar

Fine. Criticize away. I think he was celebrating as a form of criticizing and now he’s doing damage control because he’s even getting backlash from “friendly” media for appearing to cheer for the Iranians to have “outfoxed” Trump. Own it, Murphy. Or shut up.

The question becomes will the TDS transfer to anyone else? If enough people were to turn on Murphy, including the MSM would the psychosis transfer? It appears they just need a person to hate.

PapayaSF's avatar

This clarifying moment from Murphy and other Democrats is partly due to Trump’s strategy. The accusations that Trump is “divisive” are true: he takes strong, clear stances that force everyone onto one side or the other. His stances are some combination of patriotic, traditional, and common sense, and thus supported by most voters. At the same time, Democrats are forced into opposition, standing with an extremist minority.

Iran is a complicated issue, being a foreign war and arguably a choice. However, the sides are the USA versus the “Death to America” ayatollahs, so Trump is once again on the majority side. He's calculated that he can win it quickly and then pivot to domestic issues before the midterms.

Murphy is retweeting a post from Ali Vaez. Let's not forget who that is:

"Ali Vaez, an Iran analyst with the International Crisis Group, was outed... as an alleged member of a vast Iranian-government-controlled propaganda network that helped push Tehran’s talking points... Vaez reportedly communicated with senior Iranian government associates as part of the Iran Experts Initiative, an influence operation run by Iran’s foreign ministry."

I’m much more concerned with the anti Israel anti Trump forces on the right: Tucker, Candace, MTG, Xer Thomas Paine Band, Curt Mills, even Steve Bannon. Those people are far more dangerous than those on the left.

Steenroid's avatar

They are just your run of the mill whores looking for $$$. They like most whores will burn them selves out.

Mike's avatar

They have a growing number of followers on the right. In the meantime more or less the entire left has been solidly against the Iran war from the beginning.

Add it up and there’s no way around the arithmetic truth that a solid (and growing) majority of the entire US public are against the war, and increasingly against a seemingly entirely unconditional (subservient?) relationship to Israel as well.

No need for Democrats to root for Trump to face plant, he’s already done that entirely on his own.

Chris Schumerth's avatar

This...is pretty much all correct. Astonishingly so. And that from someone who doesn't know exactly how I feel about war in Iran. I just can't deny that the goal is clear and a good one. Or that Trump is ultimate metric in public life. And that he knows that well enough to exploit people because of it.
