Such a great Live. I’ve been paying attention to Andrew’s anti-Trump posts lately, so I was very curious as to how you two would address the topic. To both your credit—it was brilliantly done. Strongly felt and at the same time entirely respectful. ❤️

Has Andrew always been so anti Trump?

Perhaps this note clarifies my position on Trump 😉

I missed this note of yours when you posted it. Considering how very strongly you feel about the president, I appreciate how smoothly that part of your discussion with Batya went. I think that’s a testament to both of you. It was a very enjoyable and enlightening conversation.

He has been lately. I think he was very troubled when he felt the president disrespected the UK and especially UK servicemen. I don’t blame him, but I do think that colors his view of DJT and the current US administration.

Andrew Ack's avatar

His points weren’t wrong they just surprised me.

Andrew Fox's avatar

Why did they surprise you, out of interest?

I guess I’ve been so focused and blown away with your powerful and noble support for Israel that I just assumed we agreed on other things naturally. I’m not put off I just feel differently about the decisions the US is making regarding NATO and in Iran. I’m, I guess more proud of what we are doing and you seemed pretty upset and disappointed. I won’t argue with you as I respect you, I just humbly disagree.

I follow him on Twitter, so I was expecting him to push back hard once Batya introduced the topic of Pres Trump & Europe.

The conversation would have been more interesting if Fox used a few less dismissive assertions: ‘that’s ridiculous’, ‘ that’s a myth’ etc.

In the end he seemed to agree that Trump’s tariffs were in response to long-standing UK tariffs which he at first denied the existence of, but that their timing and roll-out were just somehow inappropriate, not the way to treat an ally.

Once again, someone who hates Trump’s style and bombast so vehemently that he cannot see the greater good that may come from his policies, or why they might be justified.

I’m interested in the NATO funding debate however. Batya and Fox took opposite sides on this, which seems to hinge on percentage of GDP versus overall military spending. I’d like to hear a fuller debate on this.

May I propose Victor Davis Hanson as a better sparring partner for Fox on this issue?

Zelensky send 50 million dollar every month to his account in UAE. Stop the crap about Ukraine.

Andrew Fox's avatar

Ridiculous, false comment straight from Kremlin propaganda. Zelensky is one of the heroes of our age.

The EU drives a money loundering operation with all our so called ”gifts” to Ukraine. You should as an englishmen ask for the money Britain sent to Ukraine.

Andrew Fox's avatar

Kremlin drivel. Just completely false.

There are around 300,000 Jews in the UK, and 4 million Muslims. One can’t help but think that this is the root of the increasing anti-semitism, especially in urban areas.

When Andrew turned on the "Europeans hate Trump" switch, his face actually flushed red. I get it that Brits in particular hate Trump .We all get it, he is direct and bombastic and not the guy you tell your kids to emulate in style. I must admit though it caused me to re-evaluate his take on the current conflict situation which I thought was clearly Iran favorable. Batya you are fantastic at keeping your demeanor level even when you detect some not fact based push back. I have no problem with Andrew's takes. We need to hear all sides.

Incidentally thanks to Andrew for expounding on the UK antisemitism. We know a young couple there with 2 children who are actually scared to death to go anywhere.

It's nothing to do with bombast. It's that he behaves like an enemy so we treat him like one.

On the spectrum of opinion on the war & their “anticipatory bias” due to Trump has anyone caught Smerconish’s CNN Sat morning poll

"Should opinions on the war in Iran transcend one's view of President Trump?"

Smerconish thought he knew the outcome of but was surprised, twice. First when he checked to see the poll working at leas than a 1000 votes & towards the end of his show when the spread stayed the same with over 65K respondents.

The surprise was for a Liberal Show, Network & Followers least likely to rally round a Trump Flag 65% said yes both times.

Ya I voted too & I was part of the majority ;)
