Lena Dunham sexually molested her own sister. And bragged about it in her autobiography. I'm not listening to anything this Jabba-the-hut sex offender has to say.

Yep. I can’t even hear her name without thinking about her molesting her own sister. If a male actor admitted to molesting a sibling, what would happen to him? Would Variety be interviewing him?

Dunham is a privileged nepo baby whose work is appreciated by a small number of individuals. The majority of people I know would reply with only one word if you mentioned Dunham’s name:

“Who?”

A four letter word came to my mind.

It's pretty strange and telling that the one sin you can commit in Hollywood and be welcomed back again and again involves molesting kids. Lena Dunham, Bryan Singer, Victor Salva, etc. Almost like Hollywood doesn't consider it evil and wrong.

It’s what I associate her with.

Nicole McClay's avatar

Same, but the size of her body has nothing to do with her being vile.

Dunham is a sick person trying to refrain perversion as art. I wish people would ignore her. She's a social icon of the LookAtMe blue haired wookies.

Cannot abide Lena Dunham. I’ll make a point of going to see every Adam Driver movie that come out for the next 5 years.

Narcissist extraordinaire Lena Dunham strikes again! I personally never saw her appeal and I found Girls to be as cloying an anti-Sex-in-the-City recasting as every other millennial anti-hero presentation. She likes to think she's a great artist and thinker, but she's just a mean girl of mumblecore. Here's the thing that every actor knows; the one with the power is the writer/director/producer. In this case, she held every card. What Adam Driver did was act. All of this was done on set, not in some sneaky backroom. And he was method playing a jerk - a character SHE WROTE! For her to revise the "power dynamic" is absurd.

I didn’t read Dunham’s quotes here as outing him or throwing him under the bus. None of this is particularly surprising or likely to have negative repercussions on his career.

Dianna's avatar

seems like a reaction from someone who barely read the quotes and didn't read the book. I mean Lena has been problematic as far as an unlikable radical feminist can be, but if you're going to critique her where she is her strongest, in her writing, you should at least engage with the context before offering a written opinion on it.

this is reductive, check ur own misogyny

Batya, love you. This is why people in NYC should sometimes get out of NYC.

NO ONE cares what Lena Dunham thinks on ANY subject.

Chelsea's avatar

Sadly, not so - in fact, I was even informed by many that she was the voice of my generation!

Steve Marusich's avatar

Apparently. We can’t escape the black hole of LD.

Clarity Seeker's avatar

Well some do care. And I don't care about those types

I have no idea who he is but he has to be the best actor in the universe to be able to pretend he was attracted to her

This feels like it was written for the zeitgeist that was 3 years ago, much like the Lindy West book it is trying to revive a feeling or vibe that no longer exists.

She’s not worth a moment of your valuable time Batya

Which allegations have destroyed men's careers and where? Chris Brown just booked a concert in my city. Trump is still president. No one except a woman sit in jail for the Epstein files. But sure.

Lena Dunham once said she'd never had an abortion, but wished she had. She'd never had a baby, either.

Does this sound like a woman who has anything of worth to offer?

Mitchell Strand's avatar

I remember her throwing shade at Giants' wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. because at a party he committed the unspeakable sin of ignoring a dumpy white girl ironically wearing a tuxedo. She thought he should be as impressed with her as she was. The world quickly explained to her that whatever she thought of herself, she was not in Beckham's league.

Breaking News: Woman Wants Contradictory Things. (Good piece, though.)

Lena should worry more about hopping on the treadmill and laying off the cheesecake. Being a victim isn’t serving her well.

Tough Cookies's avatar

Sir, I don't agree with Dunham on this and I agree that she put her foot in her mouth more times than not BUT there is no reason to comment on her body. It's her words and ideas that we should debate because they are bad.

BH's avatar

There is absolutely every reason to comment on her obesity. It’s grotesque and unacceptable. Body positivity is complete bullshit.

Tough Cookies's avatar

100% agree that body positivity is bullshit. I just meant it’s not relevant to the topic discussed. there’s enough to dismantle her stance without bringing in other things that could be criticized.

Chelsea's avatar

Yeah, Lena has had horrible health issues that have no doubt contributed to her weight. And if you want to say she's awful there's so much material that there's no need to go there on her size! it's depressing that there are so many people on this thread for whom "she's fat" is their only takeaway.

Tough Cookies's avatar

That was exactly my point! Thank you. yeah, I've heard her speak on endometriosis and other issues.

It's just like anything else, both things can be true at the same time: she *can* be a brilliant writer AND say stupid stuff. Let's debate the stupid stuff! Her body has nothing to do with that. These ad hominem completely undermine the arguments!

Boris A. Doyle's avatar

Tough cookies.

I'll bet she loves the body positivity.

So we get to say the opposite

Sort of reminds of EL ENCARGADO from Argentina. A show from Argentina about the superintendent of a very expensive building pretending to be nice and kind but who is actually a mean and nasty guy ready to use anybody. It is available in Hulu with English subtitles; it stars Guillermo Francella who last year made HOMO ARGENTUM which was a very popular box office success that it is openly hated and rejected by the woke left (It is quite an excellent movie, on Disney+).

Camille Paglia once described Lena Dunham as a " "self-pitying bore" and cited her as evidence of a decline in cultural standards. I couldn't agree more.
