With a nuclear weapon, Iran was planning to make gas $27 a gallon and not a damn thing anyone could do about it. The fact that the Dems can't see this coming is the problem. So we now control the Straight, no oil out or gas in for Iran. Without that money, they can't pay the IRGC, so they start quitting. Then Mossad arms the opposition, and you have regime change without US boots on the ground.

You have to understand how Dems think. It's not that they are incapable of seeing the obvious, like that Iran was headed towards running a global extorsion scheme. It's that they have higher priorities: #1 - destroy Trump and his entire movement to regain power. #2 - virtue signal to identity groups and socialists to get their votes and assist in goal #1.

We just made a defense deal with Indonesia that effectively gives us a good deal of say about who transits the Malacca Strait; so, all of a sudden, all the crude oil choke points will shortly be flying American Flags.

"If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival.

There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves. "

Amen, Rabbi.

There are a lot of US cargo planes heading for the region. I wonder if the next step involves another series of airstrikes to take out more of the regime defenders, then a call for a popular uprising and a new government.

Refilling weapons stocks and maintenance parts most likely.

We control the Strait? So we can let safely let tankers through?

Then why aren’t they going through?

Orenv's avatar

We both control the straight for the moment. Blocking it is to our benefit. US producers including all those people who have mineral rights in Texas are making lots and lots of money. Time will tell who blinks first. Methinks it won't be Trump (the lame duck......). The republicans won't pass the Save Act, so why would he help them? Fare more republican voters are with Trump than congress.

DJ Nickelson's avatar

Sounds like neither of us control the Strait.

Excellent article Batya

Kudos to President Donald Trump for having a Sir Winston Churchill moment in defeating Iran before it obtained nuclear weapons.

They hate us because we are the only power left strong enough and willing to challenge evil. The Democrats and RINOS always work consistently and forever to weaken US. Damn them.

Trump is taking down all China's and Russia's regional allies. Venezuela, Cuba, Iran. That was obvious from the beginning.

Agreed...when the left said 'Joe is just fine' they somehow convinced themselves of that, or that defund the police would make things safer, or that the dreaded virus could ONLY have come from a meat market, or that the laptop was fake, or, for that matter, that the original 'Russia Russia Russia' had any merit, or that men can 'become' women and have babies, or that Jesse really was attacked by guys in MAGA hats, or that the border really was secure...or or or. Never ceased to amaze me how people could convince themselves of a different reality than the rest could see.

Arabs have proven to be Military Genius 🤣 Kill civilians and cry to media

THAT is the warfare tactic that has been most cost effective since the world went soft headed from about 1960. - start wars with terrorism (or riots), get ass kicked -> appeasement benefits roll in. A can't lose tactic, for psychopaths that don't mind a whole lot of pointless death, and love tyrannizing their own and terrorizing everyone else.

Works great till attitudes change back to previous common sense response to such. Can't imagine people of 150 years ago being defeated by this. Women voting?

"...demand to know why the Trump administration didn’t plan for Iran to close the Strait..."

Of course Iran closing the Straight was completely predictable and WAS predicted within a game plan that was not "leaked." Any game theory strategy guy (the DoW probably has a few of those) would figure on the closure - since it has been the great boogie man fear since about 1979. It is preposterous for any of the CNN's to genuinely believe that Trump "did not predict the closure." Such predictable accusations in the TDS press are just another confirmation of the necessity of them keeping up their TDS front, while further eroding any remaining shred of credibility.

Iran has been the center of gravity of badness and evil for five decades. It is past time to completely de-fang them and do a great service to the entire world.

Michael Dorsey's avatar

Anyone who thinks that Trump's constant floundering and flopping around amounts to a plan is a nitwit.

Gitch's avatar

These talking heads, the know it all who are hoping somehow that Iran snubs Trump should, in my opinion, just leave our country and live elsewhere.

I speak from a position that I REMEMBER the oil embargoes of the 70s and what it did to our economy.

The left simply can not give DJT a win, ever.

I gotta say, us closing the strait was simply genius! Ok Iran, whatcha going to do now?

A Trump pundit lecturing on “liberal pundits.” That’s rich. Along with the rest of the misinformation being peddled

Your last name reveals much about you and your TDS affliction.

Lol, stoner. In the cloud :)

michael stoner's avatar

No, it doesn’t. Also, insulting me doesn’t disprove what I said and the only TDS that exists is “Trump devotion syndrome.” Grow up and quit trolling. Work on your insecurity. Later

Baghdad Batya with more Trump Devotion Syndrome. You would have done great work for Pravda.

Good content, Batya, thank you. I hope your projections are right and I believe they might be. May I ask you to please refrain from the violence-glorifying (“out-gangstered!”), personalizing (“made it his own!”) and unseemly glee about a chosen conflict (which I agree with) that has taken the lives of innocent children? It’s un-American, morally tone deaf, and wincingly difficult to read. Thank you so much.

I’m not virtuous, wish I was. Let’s call it decency signaling.

Call it what you will. It’s a proclamation of moral superiority and self aggrandizement.
