๐ Nice post, Batya! As someone significantly older than you, it has been stunning to observe the gradual change in the Democratic Party regarding its treatment of Israel/Jews over the past few decades. The Dems have moved from an embrace of Israel/Jews decades ago to full blown intolerance/hate ๐ฟ๐ฟ today. It is easier to understand this development when one examines the broader picture of the Dem Party rather than looking at this one issue in a vacuum.
50 years ago the Dem Party was inclusive and tolerant - it celebrated the rights of all to disagree and voice that disagreement without fear of reprisal. It also celebrated the right to peacefully protest within the bounds of the laws of the country. Fast forward to 2026 and the picture of the party is diametrically opposed to that of 50 years ago. Freedom of thought is not tolerated - you stick to the party line or you are excoriated. Think DEI, boys playing girlsโ sports, open borders, etc. Those who fail to toe the line are subjected to hate, expulsion, cancelation and, if unlucky, physical violence.
The hate of Israel/Jews is simply a very visible part of the broader framework of Democratic hate and intolerance, though that particular hate may be one of the most concerning when one considers the simultaneous embrace by the left of radical Islam. Hard to predict where this all ends, but it promises to be a very bumpy road filled with many twists, turns and danger. Good help us ๐๐๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ
I love this post. I just find it so ironic that Democrats are the ones who use the word "Nazi" to describe anyone who diagrees with them, yet they are the ones with the same disdain for Isreal and Jews that the Nazis had.
The moral rot inside the Democratic Party continues to grow. Antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment are rampant on the left. Meanwhile, the Republican Party has a zero tolerance policy for antisemitism and is behind Israel all the way. These polls that Batya has provided prove that beyond a shadow of a doubt as do the expulsions of Nick Fuentes, Tucker Carlson and Thomas Massie from the party. Vice President J.D. Vance has proven he is a clown and not presidential material with his recent statements about the Iran ceasefire. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is a staunch friend to Israel and has brokered some pretty great deals on the international stage. He should be the GOPโs nominee for President in 2028. It was probably a mistake to pick Vance for Vice President and Iโm sure privately Trump regrets it. Israel ๐ฎ๐ฑ is the only free democracy in all the Middle East. Theyโve stood tall against Iran and their proxies and defeated them over and over again. Israel reduced Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis to shells of their former selves, bombed Iranโs nuclear facilities, bombed Al-Qaedaโs weapons caches in Syria and protected the Druze, and hammered Iran for months on end destroying valuable infrastructure for the regime. Israel is the only first world country with a 2.1 birth rate. Patriotism and societal trust are high in Israel and crime is low. They are regional leaders in minority rights, womenโs rights, LGBTQ+ rights, disability rights, and religious freedom. They are world leaders in technology, water, agriculture, medicine, cybersecurity, defense innovation, and environmentalism. Israel doesnโt bother with the faux โrules-based international orderโ (which is a load of c*** anyway) they do whatever must be done to protect their country. Nor do they waste time with the broken, corrupt and weak United Nations who is biased against them anyway. Israel is absolute a country we should continue to be allies with.
Republican voters agree, meanwhile Democratic voters among them many progressives and leftists hate Israel and think itโs evil and genocidal. Democrats have done little to nothing to fight anti-Semitism while Republicans have been most aggressive in tackling it. The anti-Semites on the right exist but they are a tiny minority. As to the Palestinians, until they vanquish the Palestinian Authority and Hamas and elect a secular, liberal democracy and extend an olive branch to Israel, there is no hope for things to get better for them. At the end of the day, terrorism, armed resistance, boycotts, divestment, and sanctions wonโt do anything. Only peaceful dialogue with Israel will truly liberate the Palestinian people. The BDS Movement is more about antisemitism than Palestinian independence anyway. The Democratic Party is a joke that Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson wouldnโt recognize. FDR, Harry S. Truman and John F. Kennedy all of whom had great respect and sympathy for Israel and the Jewish people, would be shocked at all the hate in the Democratic Party we are seeing today!
I feel sorry for Liberal Jews as they donโt really have any place to go. Nor are they welcomed or appreciated on the left. But the left simply doesnโt want them. I imagine weโll see even more Jews defect to the GOP in 2026 and 2028. As for Israel, I think it should do everything it can in the wake of October 7th to defend itself and the United States should back it all the way. Israel should just straight up annex Gaza. They should assert full sovereignty over the West Bank and kick out the Palestinian Authority. Israel should reoccupy Southern Lebanon. With the Egyptian governmentโs permission they should establish a buffer zone in the Sinai. The E1 settlements in the West Bank should be built. The settlements in East Jerusalem should be expanded. Israel should take the Temple Mount from Jordan in a lightning raid akin to Entebbe in 1978.
JD Vance not antisemitic? Give me a break. He lambasts Israel about taking care of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. What does he think Israel has been doing since 1967.
Does he say likewise to the Arab states? Besides, he's best mates with Carlson. How can you be friends with such a vile individual?
And do not forget that most of Europe is deeply anti-Semitic and was even before they let millions of Muslims in. The Holocaust was not Germany alone but a pan-European project.
What stuns me is that the anti-Israel support is concomitant with pro-terrorist/Hamas/socialist/ad infinitum groups. What on earth has happened to some people's moral compass and common sense? It seems like a grim outlook. God help us.
Thank you for the great work youโre doing, Batya. The numbers you reported here are genuinely good news.
The one caveat I would add though is that there still seems to be some reason to be concerned specifically with regard to younger Republicans. This poll is of likely Republican primary voters, and the sample itself skews older: 62% were 50 or older, while only 15% were under 35. That may accurately capture the current GOP primary base, but it may not fully capture where younger conservatives are moving.
That matters because Pew recently found that Republicans overall remain more favorable than unfavorable toward Israel, but Republicans under 50 are much more negative, with 57% holding an unfavorable view of Israel.
So I agree with your larger point: the Republican base remains strongly pro-Israel. But I do think there is still reason to worry that younger conservatives may be more susceptible to the anti-Israel and antisemitic ecosystem forming online.
Small as it is, tiny Israel is the only worthwhile, steadfast ally the United States has. Itโs almost the one outpost of sanity in the entire freak show that is the Middle East in 2026. And of course, the idiots who yelp constantly about our โforeign aidโ to Israel never bother to research - and are probably too dumb to understand - what the ROI is for the U.S. Yet the Democrats and supporters of Islamist goat molesters - but I repeat myself - are too dullwitted to get the fact that the people they support would cheerfully cut their throats.
Quit shilling for Republicans. There is a deep rot spreading throughout the party, Massie campaigned with the leader of the American Reich, Rand Paulโs son is a vile Jew hating drunk, a gubernatorial candidate in California and one in Florida called to killed all Israelis and put Jews in camps; Tennessee young Republicans are rallying around a campaign to โstop fighting wars for Jews.โ Ted Cruz said there is big trouble in the party. If you donโt start addressing that, you are misleading Jewish people.

Not to mention they are supporting a candidate with a Nazi tattoo.
Antisemitism is the latest symptom of Democrats rejection of God.
"The dogma lives loudly within you, and that's of concern"

I am glad to hear some good news. Things in the UK where I am are bleak.
This is good news as it's something I've been concerned about especially after hearing some of the comments of J.D. Vance.

Probably because of the constant exposure to it in MSM and in higher education
Maybe, but maybe the divide is less partisan than generational. Are Republican voters older on average than Democratic voters?
Actual Republicans or MAGA?
