Getting rid of the Ayatollah and eliminating Iran's nuclear capabilities are laudable goals. But perhaps the most significant achievement of the war in Iran isn't about the Middle East at all.
I have followed Batya since I first saw her on Varney and Company six or so years ago. I love the fact that she’s a former democrat now turned independent as I have been for decades now.
She has one of the most insightful minds of any political commentator this past decade. The fact that she’s a proud Jewish woman is even better.
Her open mindedness to view specifics on both sides of the aisle before she makes any conclusion is rare these days.
Batya, thank you very much for enlightening many minds and inspiring meaningful conversations that need to happen in these divide times.
I have followed her as well, but I saw a seismic shift after she wrote her book Second Class. She was genuinely changed by the research for it IMHO. That shows an open heart and an open mind. I love that and her undying readiness to engage for her beliefs. There is steel beneath that ever present kindness.
EVERY WORD!!! Yes!!!!!! Thank you Batya!!! And don’t worry, some of us (maybe a lot of us) have watched this whole sequence unfold since Venezuela, and we get it! We are tracking! I have been disheartened by the many shallow and shortsighted responses by people who should know better in the media, but at least we have people like you who are more thoughtful and educated than your average news person. ❤️👏🏻🇺🇸
Batya always sees the bigger geopolitical reality--the deeper issues behind the apparent issues. She is one of the most astute commentators on the U.S. and our foreign policies. The Democratic party should be reading her columns regularly. Their kneejerk opposition to Trump will not help them win the WH in 28. They continue to be reactionary--bellowing NO to Trump but without a viable platform on the global stage that positions America to dominate and remain safe from malign actors which are hoping for our decline. Kudos to Batya--once again!!!!
Batya, this extremely important byproduct that you speak of is a quiet, underneath the covers response to China threatening to withhold & restrict rare earth minerals to the US months ago. They can't run their earthmoving machines without petroleum products of all variety. They can't run machinery to repair current equipment without petroleum products. Coal is not going to give them petroleum products.
The interesting thing, in relation to the United States, is the same set of circumstances is mostly what is holding prices for goods and services higher here currently. Affordability comes in many different forms. The main "felt" economy is run on petroleum products both in the fields and the farms and the ranches and the transportation and the storage and the delivery of all range of products. Unfortunately men don't understand that.
China is gonna understand it real good, real soon.
There are points and details here that I had not encountered elsewhere. While I'm still undecided on what exactly I think about all of it, I greatly appreciate the clarity of the writing and the perspective. It gave me plenty to think about. Thanks, Batya.
I like Megyn, i think she just disagrees. I don’t agree with her stance about Iran, but it’s ok to disagree sometimes. I still like her show.
Ben Shapiro, who i also like, has gone a bit cookoo attacking people personally (calling them cowards) just because they don’t think like him. That is not ok and that’s how many Dem’s are
Trump’s real superpower is making people believe he’s stupid and so they underestimate him. This goes for Democrats and most foreign leaders. Thanks for unveiling the #RealDonaldTrump, Batya.
Like most of the previous comments....your analysis is astute and refreshing!! I too thought from the very beginning (Venezuela) that the moves Trump is making are much much bigger and have more impact to everyday Americans than you'll ever glean from the mainstream media.....If even I...a plain Jane upper midwest middle-class American can figure this out....I'm sure many many more will too!
Trump is clearing the chess board to make the American economy American again! And restore the American worker's dignity again!
Batya, UK viewer here. It's a little harder to see the big picture the way you do because of the distance involved. I do hope you're right, because if you aren't, the Dems are walking 2028 right now.
Wouldn't you love to know if someone in the administration came up with this 4-D chess move, or if it was Trump himself? If it was an analyst or a Cabinet Member they need a massive raise. Perhaps it will be disclosed at the end of Trump's term in office.
I don’t think it’s a move, it seems more like a well thought out and orchestrated series of events that he’s probably been thinking about for a couple of decades.
And he hired/nominated people to work in his administration that are experienced and very, very smart in their given areas (for the most part) who can give him realistic plans for how to make it work. After watching what the federal government has done for the last 40 years, the weaponized incompetence, seeing it is honestly kind of breathtaking. And very refreshing.
Amazing how every war eventually turns out to have been a brilliant economic strategy after the fact.
According to Batya Ungar-Sargon, bombing Iran didn’t just weaken Tehran — it kneecapped China, restored the petrodollar, and strengthened the U.S. economy.
That’s a lot of geopolitical upside for a war that supposedly started to stop a nuclear program.
Right!? So brilliant this war was, perhaps it should have been started months ago! And Trump isn’t choosing to keep quiet about this win…it’s just in the cue of all the other things he needs to brag about.

Wow thank you so much John. That means so much to me.

I agree!

Dean! Thank you!!
AMEN!!! Yes she is. Brilliant mind, golden heart.
So this is where the smart people meet! :)
Welcome
Thank you!
Yes, yes, YES!!!!!!!

And seriously… Can you talk some sense into Megyn Kelly??
I just can’t listen to her talk about this anymore… 😩
I like Megyn, i think she just disagrees. I don’t agree with her stance about Iran, but it’s ok to disagree sometimes. I still like her show.

We have to agree to disagree sometimes
She sounds exactly like Tucker, that’s my issue. I thought her more of original thinker.
Agreed. But I think she needs to have someone like Batya on her show. And not just Tucker Carlson.
Trump’s real superpower is making people believe he’s stupid and so they underestimate him. This goes for Democrats and most foreign leaders. Thanks for unveiling the #RealDonaldTrump, Batya.
Foreign leaders, especially, Netanyahu, play him like a fiddle.
That puts you in the group I am referring to.

Yeah. Especially Kristi Noem. 🤡
Batya! Bingo! Can't wait to see this leverage put into action when Trump visits China

Solid analysis, going deeper than surface level is always appreciated.
