It’s truly incredible how far out of his way Mamdani went to omit the bombers’ identity and affiliation. He must think Orwell’s 1984 is an instruction manual rather than a work of satire.

Mark D.'s avatar

Yes, he posted that today- no doubt after intense blowback from his initial dishonest tweet over 24 hours earlier.

Perhaps. But it now exists.

Yes, it turns out political pressure can force even the most dishonest sack of 💩 to do the right thing 26 hours later 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s not just terrorism…they are Islamist terrorists who hate Western Society or any other religion besides Islam. Mamdani will never call out what it really is. And that is because if you read anything he has written previous to his run for office, both he and his wife for that matter, are very supportive of this ideology. We need to be clear eyed about what Mamdani is and what he isn’t.

I do have Islamophobia. There is too much violence associated with Islam. I do not trust adherents of the faith. I think you should treat all people with respect and see no reason to try and taunt Muslims, but I want them limited in my country.

Keilani's avatar

Phobia means an irrational dislike. It is not irrational to want people who openly preach death and destruction, or commit acts of terror, not be allowed in your country.

Mamdani's hypocrisy is hard to endure. He says "hate has no place in this city" and talks about Islamophobia. A very few years ago he was protesting with Nerdeen Kiswani and her group Within our Lifetime, holding up a sign saying "Globalize the Intifada.". In fact his words and actions suggest he has Jewophobia. I shudder to think what NYC will be like by the end of his term and who will succeed him.

Enjoyed your show on News National Nation Saturday. Good job.

Sorry about the stupid autofill

Excellent post. I had the exact same thought reading Brad Landers' post today about Islamophobia and how he hates it, as if Islamophobia feelings and throwing a bomb are equally problematic.

Mark D.'s avatar

It’s like the Norm MacDonald joke: What terrifies me is if ISIS were to detonate a dirty bomb, killing 50 million Americans. Imagine the backlash against peaceful Muslims?

Sometimes I wonder what country I now live in. It is unrecognizable to me!

Most of the time, far-left thinkers (pretending to be progressist) are only gateopeners to terrorism!

We need to stop normalizing the word Islamophobia. This is not a phobia. This is not an irrational fear or dislike. These are people who desire death and destruction to anyone who is not an Islamic believer. These are people who openly act on those desires, committing acts of violence and terror. It is not phobic to want those people removed from our society. Using that word and normalizing that word bring acceptance for the belief that we are being irrational to think that the Islamic religion is not compatible with Western society and cultural norms.

This is not true. It is not that Mamdani has a problem with terrorists bombs. He doesn’t. They just have to be terrorists on his side. Mamdani is entirely supportive of killing anyone who has what he considers an objectionable opinion. He just can’t say that out loud and doesn’t yet have the ability to do it. Make no mistake, Mamdani is entirely supportive of political and violence and murder as a means of advancing his politics.

It's literally the Norm Macdonald meme come to life.

The ol' Religion of "Peace" hard at work, again

“Islamophobia” defined means frightened/scared of Islam; Islam doesn’t “frighten” or “scare” me just inspires a sense of loathing. I just don’t like the bastards or their “religion”. And we won’t have a problem as long as they stay out of my face & out of my life.

Get in my face/in my life - we got a problem.

Or you could link to this statemen today, where he denounces terrorism. Why leave this out? Doesn't help your point?

This was posted less than two hours ago, I’d imagine at the time Batya wrote this post, the idiot mayor hadn’t published this statement

DEEP PURPLE's avatar

Then, she should update her piece. You can do that on the interwebs, you know?

Janet's avatar

sometimes writers are doing something else besides writing, you know?

DEEP PURPLE's avatar

Like going on TV to promote themselves instead of telling full stories. Ys, I am aware.

Deep Purple is weirdly vested in countering any comments here that criticize Mamdani. Kind of Deep Statish.

DEEP PURPLE's avatar

Hate the guy. I just like complete stories. Unlike you, im not a Batya bootlicker.

Elizabeth Rome's avatar

Oh smell jealousy of a smart person here... Deep Purple --your Monday morning quarterbacking comments are laughable

DEEP PURPLE's avatar

That ain't it, Liz. Sorry. Dont like writers who change their views or cliks and likes, then don't give the full story on topics because they know their readers like you only want partial information and will eat any slop provided.

publius_x's avatar

Fuck off with your goalpost-shifting attempts at moral equivalence. Jimmy's seafood always says it best.

Mary Wright's avatar

Thank you for adding this. It's nice to get the chance to see more of the full picture, especially for folks like me who don't maintain a Twitter account. Even with this, I tend to agree with the overall concern in Batya's piece, if only because if I had read the first of his statements entirely on its own, I would have come away with the impression that the bombing was done by the protestors themselves, as part of the event. To me, that means that, whether intentionally misleading or just poorly written, the post reflects very badly on the mayor and/or his PR staff.

DEEP PURPLE's avatar

Yes, full picture is helpful. Batya once believed in providing a full picture, but now does not provide a complete picture on things she writes about. Her work is slanted and requires one to dig deeper (as I did) to see if there is anything she deliberately left out to skew her take. Something to keep in mind, no matter where you stand on the issues.
