I just finished How To Survive in The Woods on audio- I lost sleep listening to it at night. Couldn’t put it down, or whatever the audiobook equivalent is.
Glad you’re wearing green, Batya, as you repeatedly tell Kat how jealous you are of her 😜
I think Kat’s last name is spelled RosenFIELD. It’s “Rosenfeld” in the video title here.
I’m thoroughly Gen X, and sorry to correct, but WE were the last generation to fumble around in the dark and make mistakes - AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR ACTIONS. We were the direct beneficiaries of feminism, and rule one is to have agency and learn from your own mistakes and not insist a managerial system mete out rules and regulations after a disappointment. When I’m feeling charitable, I take pity on Millennials for bringing back the good ole Victorian days.
What just happened here? I'll admit you and Kat Rosenfeld caught me off guard in a way I didn't expect. There's a frequency women seem to naturally tune into that I've always known exists but can't quite access myself.
That's not a hierarchy claim. It's closer to an acknowledgment that the difference is real. Science has actually documented it; women perceive color and hue with measurably greater nuance than men, and that's just the visible, measurable layer. The rest is harder to quantify but no less present.
Listening to the two of you, I kept encountering dynamics I simply hadn't registered on my own. Things that were apparently right in front of me, just outside the range I naturally tune to.
I want to compliment Kat and Batya on being some of the best writers in this space, too! It’s refreshing to read intelligent cultural and political commentary that’s also written in beautiful prose. Please keep going. I chose the academic career path and the orthodoxy I inhabit is suffocating. You are both such a breath of fresh air!
Unsurprisingly perfect chemistry between these two smart, beautiful, and based women! I feel deep admiration for you both and I would not have it any other way! You are my sanity whispers.
Batya- This was a very interesting discussion. I grew up in a very culturally conservative Evangelical world. Affirmative consent by women was drummed into us all through our youth in the late 1960's and 1970's. So it was Bizarre to say the least to see hyper woke leftist feminists adopt it. Years later we attempted a poly/throuple life before that word existed. What we found was totally different than the common narrative around these things. The women looking to join couples are actually predatory seeking either instant claims of ownership of interests in property and other wealth of the couple or to claw one or the other out of the couple. We also had ENDLESS responses from age inappropriate much younger women who could not begin to understand that we didnt see their youth as the end all and be all.
Two of my favorites! I'm having major hair envy as well!
100% agree. Kat's writing is amazingly good.

Batya has NOTHING to be jealous of! They are both amazing women.
Agreed. I’m sure Batya is mostly kidding. Currently listening to her excellent book “Bad News” which she narrates herself.

Thank you.
🤣🤣🤣

Two brilliant, self-aware, grounded women discussing modern lit? Fabulous.
"Affirmative consent" trivializes actual sexual violence. The concept has done more harm than good.
I think it's "Thruple"
Other than that
Kat & Batya? Am I dreaming? Pinch me!
It’s Rosenfield, Batya.
Batya Ungar-Sargon: "The first Jew to step foot on American soil, the first thing he did was sue an official for insulting him—and he won."
Name this person, Batya.
Because I’ve looked and looked, and I can’t find his name.
Who was he?
